Them Crooked Vultures ( aka Les Petits Pois ) @ Rock en Seine St Cloud August 30th 2009

Them Crooked Vultures ( AKA 'Les Petits Pois')
@ Rock en Seine Parc de St Cloud, August 30th 2009
Last day for the Rock en Seine , the bill is even worse than the previous days as most of the bands are electro- rock.
We couldn't get there in time for the Eagles of death Metal or "The Pigeons of Shit Metal" as Axl Rose called them.
Erratum : We just know that Josh homme play the penultimate song " wanna be in L.A." with them.

A real nightmare for us poor bastards as we were busy this afternoon and we arrived just when Dave Grohl, Josh Homme , John Paul Jones and let's not forget Alain Johannes get on the second stage.
It's absolutely packed in the front with mostly male rockers, where are all the beautiful girls ?
Anyway John Paul Jones ( Led Zeppelin ) is smiling , Dave Grohl ( Foo Fighters ) is banging his drums like a maniac , Josh Homme ( QOTSA ) is concentrated on his guitar & Alain johannes ( Eleven ) is helping out on guitar and keys .
The set is VERY heavy with long songs. As i've never ever heard any of them before I can't really tell you anything about them except that they sound like the best of QOTSA.
Very heavy with bluesy licks and breaks.

This band is more like "QOTSA with friend J-P J" as all the guys on stage have played one moment or another in the QOTSA.
Funny to see how John paul jones is fitting in.
When you consider the history & Music of led Zeppelin and the history & Music of Nirvana , Foo Fighters & QOTSA , John Paul Jones seems to be out of place here even though his bass parts are perfect.

Dave Grohl is like a kid in a candy store playing with John Paul always looking and smiling at him in awe.

John- Paul is playing different bass guitars including a very weird one and a couple of songs on keys ( see Pics below)

Great 1 hour mother-fucking killer set probably the most waited for and the best of the festival.

Yeah Right ! go motherfucker go !

MGMT , The Klaxons , Prodigy , Patrick Wolf
@ Rock en Seine Parc de St Cloud August 30th 2009

After such a killer concert by "Les petits Pois" ( AKA Them Crooked Vultures ) it was hard to see anything after that.

Mgmt on main stage and crash barrier in front

So hang around the site, had a quick glance @ MGMT , not my drug of choice.

Some girls

The Klaxons are next on the second stage , another electro- rock band , some songs are really heavy others more dance and others really crap. There's a bit of everything but their best song is their single.
they're OK

It seems that all the Rock en Seine is expecting Prodigy , they're very powerfull on stage running everywhere but the music, apart from a couple of songs is very monotone .
So we left after 30 min

On our way out we saw Patrick Wolf for his last song a cover of Madonna's "Like a virgin" .
Funny guy it seems.

Faith no More , Offspring, The Horrors , Billy Talent @ Rock en Seine August 29th 2009

Faith No More, Offspring, The Horrors, Billy Talent
@ Rock en Seine August 29th 2009

Once again the bill is not fantastic today , so we get there around 6 PM just in time to see Canadian power-pop band Billy Talent ( they call it punk in America ).
The singer is screaming so much that half of his body is completely red.
The music 's not fantastic but the show was entertaining.
We left after 40 min that was enough.

Some girls

The Horrors is the up and coming band , i've heard a lot about them but after seeing their pictures , I didn't really bother, Too bad for me.
They've done a great set ; very dark, very goth and very Joy division-ish.
Lots of kids in the audience , they love them , a very nice surprise for me.

The singer's funny and they're all looking very young.

Then we have the masters of the american punk rock scene ( we call it Power- Pop over here ) Offspring.

They sound very american which means that it's perfectly executed , almost like on cd. There's a aditional guitar player with them.
They've done all the hits with lots of AAaahh & OOooOhh to sing.
With Offspring you don't need to own any of their cd you know most of their songs , very pop and the sound is neat.

There are unprofessional bands ( Oasis ) and very professional ones , Offspring is one of them, for " Punk" they're too perfect.
Of course they had to make a couple of jokes on Oasis' split.
Great set anyway.

Faith no More, AAARRGGHH all my youth is coming back right in my face.
Lots of expectations for this come-back.
They started very slowly with a very cool song and then it was chaos.
They're all dressed nicely with costumes , 'Mad' Patton is acting like a maniac on acid , lots of screamings.

They've played songs from all their records including the early ones when Patton wasn't the singer and all the hits ( Epic... ) a couple of covers ( " I'm easy" , " Midnight cowboy" instrumental soundtrack ) alternating very heavy song with cool ones.

The audience was mad , the sound and lightning was perfect , great show.

We have a winner: Faith No More
