Lou Doillon @ L'Album de la Semaine, Paris April 30 2013

Lou Doillon @ L'Album de la Semaine, Paris April 30 2013

French singer LOU DOILLON playing tonight @ Canal+
French Pop-Folk, her first album had good reviews, we'll see how she's doing Live !
Not too bad,, first part was acoustic with the whole band sitting on stools down the front with Lou on acoustic guitar for some new songs.
Then there was a short break and they came back to play songs from the first album which is more orchestrated and electric (and more pop).
All the songs are slow tempo or mid-tempo so it was a relaxed affair.
Good songs but her way of singing ( or intonations) tends to be a bit annoying in the end.
Nice hour+ set.

Miles Kane @ L'Album de la Semaine, Canal+ Paris April 22 2013

 Miles Kane @ L'Album de la Semaine, Canal+ Paris April 22 2013

Miles Kane is back with a second solo album " Don't forget who you are" and before his European Tour starting next month...and a show @ Maroquinerie on May 22nd (probably already sold-out), he's doing some promo. Tonight he's playing Canal+ studios in front of a young audience of 100+ people.
I Remember that last time he played "L'album de la Semaine" to promote his first album we thought it was a bit too pop compare to The Rascals. We saw him many times afterwards and each time it was near perfection.
Now we're fully satisfied, it's ROCKING & KICKING ASS.
New songs are much more heavier and as good as the first album (we haven't listen to any of them yet).
There is an extra keyboard player to add extra flavor with piano or weird Psyche noises.
Miles is , as usual, smartly dressed with a black costume.
The set ended with a nice rendition of The Rolling Stones' "Doom & Gloom" that is rocking.
The came back once to re-play "get up" as they were not satisfied with the sound.
Once again Great gig ( around 40 min)

MILES KANE covering The Rolling Stones' "Doom & Gloom"
Afetr the show I've asked him why playing that song, he answered "just because I Like it"

The John Mitchell Fleet @ Gibus, Paris April 18 2013

The John Mitchell Fleet @ Gibus, Paris April 18 2013
Back at the Gibus club for a charity gig organized by two associations ‘Glowbule, vivre avec le cancer’, & ‘Joie d’un sourire’ to help children with cancer at hospital.
We're here to attend John Mitchell Fleet's gig. We already saw its leader opening for Peter Doherty @ Bus Palladium a few weeks ago.
Tonight he's playing with the band for, unfortunately, a very short set as they're only playing 4 songs. There are many other bands on the bill tonight.
We're talking 'classic rock' between Jeff Buckley & Eric Clapton 70's era. The musicianship is high and the band is tight and that's the kind of music that we like here @ Rockerparis.
Check them if they're playing a club near ya.: http://www.johnmitchellfleet.com/

Valerie June @ Album de la Semaine for Canal+, Paris April 17 2013

Valerie June @ Album de la Semaine for Canal+, Paris April 17 2013

It's been a while since we've been to this tv show, good to be back in this tiny 100 capacity studio.
We're here to see VALERIE JUNE promoting her 5th album Pushin’ Against a Stone, she's now the protégée of Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys.
She's sexy and has a beautiful orange dress and a nice "gorgone" haircut,  lloking a bit shy.
She's playing traditionnal music: rural Folk-Blues. Nice songs, half of them performed on her own on acoustic guitar or banjo and the rest with her band, that sounded much better.
I'm not really convince by her laid-back high-pitched voice that is making her sound like a Memphis version of Duffy.
Short 7 songs -30 min set.

She will be playing @ Fleche d'Or club for the [Pias] night in Paris on April 26.

We'll be back @ L'Album de la Semaine as soon as next monday for MILES KANE who's promoting his second solo album. Really looking forward for this one.

Didier Wampas & Bikini Machine @ Studio SFR, Paris April 16 2013

Didier Wampas & Bikini Machine @ Studio SFR, Paris April 16 2013
Didier Wampas has just released his second solo album and he's doing a bit of promo in the media including this show @ Studio SFR on Rue tronchet just next to La Madeleine. It's a small 300 capacity "club"  and it's not packed tonight, really wondering why as it's a free show.
As usual with Didier he's giving it all on stage, jumping and running all the time including to the very back on the club several times and even crowdsurfing, it's a first here.
His record is less Punk and bit more 60's orientated than the Wampas but still with funny lyrics, first song is "Viré de chez Skyrock" (-"Kicked out of -rap radio- Skyrock" ) and full of powerful rock songs.
60 min long set
Powerful and entertaining set.
